2010 WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT
LONGMEADOW, MASSACHUSETTS
The Town of Longmeadow invites sealed Bids for the proposed “2010 Water Main Replacement Project”. Sealed Bids will be received at the Town of Longmeadow, Attn: Chad Thompson-Purchasing Coordinator, 735 Longmeadow Street, Suite 101, Longmeadow, MA 01106 until the bid deadline of 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Late bids will be rejected. Immediately following the bid deadline, bids will be publicly opened in the auditorium in the same building. Sealed bids must have outer envelope marked as “2010 Water Main Replacement Project”.
The work consists of the construction of 3,339 linear feet of new 8-inch diameter ductile iron water main, hydrants, house services, and appurtenances on three streets in town; Barclay St, Birch Rd, and Longview Drive. Project completion shall be 90 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed.
All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended.
Bidding Documents may be examined and/or obtained at the office of the Purchasing Coordinator between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 to noon on Friday. The deposit for the documents is one hundred dollars ($100.00). Those who return documents in good condition within 10 days after opening bids will receive a full refund. Bidding Documents will be mailed upon request via US mail ground service for a non-refundable pre-paid handling and postage charge of twenty five dollars ($25.00).
All Bidders shall furnish with their Bid a bid guaranty in the form of a bid bond, cash or a certified check, treasurer’s check or cashier’s check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, in the amount of 5% of the total amount of the bid and made payable to the Town of Longmeadow, Massachusetts.
Performance and Labor and Materials Payment Bonds, in the full amount of the Contract Price, will be required of the Successful Bidder. No Bid may be withdrawn less than sixty (60) days after the date of the opening of bids.
Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Workforce Development under the provision of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27H, as amended, apply to this project. It is the responsibility of the contractor, before bid opening, to request if necessary, any additional information on Minimum Wage Rates for those trades people who may be employed for the proposed work under this contract.
The Town of Longmeadow, acting through the Town Manager, the Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive minor informalities, and to award the contract in the best interest of the Town. |
