ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Separate sealed Bids for the construction of “Longmeadow Water Storage Tank - Exterior Rehabilitation” will be received at the following Community House address: Town of Longmeadow, Attn: Chad Thompson-Purchasing Coordinator, 735 Longmeadow Street, Suite 101, Longmeadow, MA 01106 (phone: 413-565-4136). Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m. on July 29, 2010. Late bids will be rejected. Immediately following the bid deadline bids received will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Community House Auditorium. Sealed bids must have outer envelope marked as “Longmeadow Water Storage Tank - Exterior Rehabilitation”. A 5% bid deposit is required with the bid.
A pre-bid conference will be held at the water tank site near Academy Drive, Longmeadow, MA on Thursday, July 15 at 10:00 AM.
The work consists of surface preparation and painting of the exterior of a 127-foot high, 1,000,000-gallon elevated water tank. Also included are modifications to the overflow pipe, replacement of the front gate, installation of a midrail on the walkway handrail, and installation of cable support brackets.
All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended.
Bidding Documents may be examined and/or obtained at the office of Tighe & Bond, Inc., 53 Southampton Road, Westfield, Massachusetts on or after July 7, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, legal holidays excluded. The deposit for the documents is $50.00 made payable to Tighe & Bond. Those who return documents in good condition within 10 days after opening bids will receive a full refund.
Bidding Documents will be mailed upon request via U.P.S. Ground Service delivery for a non-refundable handling and postage charge of $25.00. Alternatively, plan holders can provide either a UPS or FedEx account number to handle shipping charges. All deposit, handling, and postage charges shall be prepaid.
The Town of Longmeadow acting through the Town Manager, the Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive minor informalities, and to award the contract in the best interest of the Town. |
